Images Magazine

Delgado Community College's Images: A Literary and Visual Arts Magazine seeks submissions from current Delgado students of original poetry,  short fiction, and creative nonfiction as well as photos, paintings, sketches, and now comics. Submissions are open now.

For Text:

• We accept poetry, short fiction, and creative nonfiction.
• Please submit a .doc, .docx, .rtf. We do not accept PDFs because they do not retain line breaks well.
• Please submit in only one genre at a time.
• Please submit all text in one file. If you're submitting 4 poems at once, please place it all in one file.
• Please do not submit more than 5 poems at one time.
• Please do not submit more than 1 piece of short fiction or creative nonfiction at time.

For Images:

• We accept photos, paintings, and sketches.
• Please crop your work when you take a clear picture of it.
• Title your visual artwork and use that title as the filename.
• Each image should be sent as a high resolution (large, 300dpi or higher) JPEG file. It should be larger than 1MB.
• You can submit up to 5 files at a time.

For Comics:

• We accept most comic styles (non-fiction, superhero, humor, manga, etc.)
• Please balance captions and dialogue to support character and plot.
• We suggest multiple (~12-24) panels on two pages but feel free to submit more.
• Title your comic and use that title as the filename.

Suggested Methods for Creating Your Comic:

1. Drawing: Draw your comic, scan your work as a PDF and upload it.  Feel free to use a comic book template found online for this method.
2. Website: Use sites that offer comic book creation like Canva, Webtoon Canvas, or Storyboard That. Create your comic and then publish your final draft’s URL.

2022 CONTEST

• The Nason Smith Prize, which includes publication & acknowledgment in Images, a $100 award, & 15 broadsides, will be given for the best comic, a story told through images and words. There is no entry fee. All submissions are considered for the prize.
